                                        SRIKALAHASTHEESWARASWAMIVARI DEVASTHANAMSRIKALAHASTI :: CHITTOOR DISTRICT 
                         
Srikalahastheeswaraswamivari Temple is one of the most ancient and historical Saivet temple in India.  It has the history of several ‘Yugas’.  The greatness of this kshethra was mentioned in Astadasa Puranas (18 puranams).  The place is otherwise known as “DHAKSHINA  KAILASAM”,  “SATHYAVRATHA  BHASKARA  KSEHTRAM” and also “RAHU-KETHU KSHETHRAM”.  As per the historical versions, (SRI) the Spider, (KALA) the Serpent and (HASTHI) the Elephant have sacrified their lives in true devotion to Lord Siva.  In recognition to their true devotion this kshethram and lord Eeswara are called “SRI-KALA-HASTEESWARA”.  Several great personalities like Vasista who is one of the Saptharishulu and Guru of Lord Sri Rama worshipped the Lord Srikalahastheeswara and attained moksha.  Lord Brahma, Nakkeeran the famous Poet, Bhaktha Kannappa (Thinnadu) and the famous Poet Dhurjaty etc, have worshipped the Lord.
